The History of SCORES Cup
|
The SCORES Cup started in 2006 and is now one of the biggest fundraisers for America SCORES Chicago. The idea was simple: to bring together our city’s corporations for a day of friendly soccer competition, all in support of our city’s youth.
During the season, America SCORES brings free after-school programming to 500 students in 10 Chicago Public Schools. These poet-athletes participate in writing, soccer, and service-learning workshops throughout the year. Each Friday they meet to play soccer against other schools in their community. America SCORES wanted to bring this experience to our city’s adults. The event builds employee morale, teamwork and competitive spirit, and is an opportunity to meet other professionals in the city. SCORES Cup is now Chicago’s largest corporate soccer tournament for charity, and companies in 14 cities across the United States also join in on the summer tradition of the SCORES Cup. In 2011, the SCORES Cup is taking an exciting step by moving the full tournament to the Chicago Fire's Toyota Park training fields. Join us!
